The mission of the Pastoral Council of Holy Trinity is four fold: ministry of the Word, Ministry of Worship and prayer, Ministry of Care and Ministry of Service, in and for the Word.

We recognize the Holy Spirit as the True Presiding Entity of our community.We choose Christ as the beginning and the center of our theology and the center of the individual in our faith formation. We dedicate ourselves to the formation of the Parish as a Community of Faith. We dedicate ourselves to building this community in the gospel spirit of honesty, simplicity, hospitality, joy and respect for the individual and the willingness to sacrifice, so that we may get individual and collective witness to the presence of Christ in our midst.

The primary task of pastoral councils is to aid in the process of pastoral planning. The authority of the pastoral council is consultative or advisory.  While a council chair normally runs the meeting, the pastor/administrator presides at the council in the sense that he discusses with and consults the council about pastoral matters.  Authority to make pastoral decisions ultimately rests with the pastor/administrator who has been appointed by the bishop.  A pastor shall carefully consider the deliberations and recommendations of the council.  If the pastor ever acts contrary to the recommendations of the council, he shall offer a proper explanation to the members.  In the absence of the pastor, a council may discuss matters, but it does not make final determinations. 

In addition to the canonical requirements stated above, a pastoral council member should be:  

One who nourishes a deep prayer life and exhibits an active faith life; one who can discern, study, reflect and recommend practical conclusions; and on who is able to collaborate effectively with others, values consensus, is open to new ideas, and can set aside personal agendas to listen.
