Holy Trinity Altar Society 2010 Minutes


The meeting was called to order by President Mary Dally at 7:05 pm on November 15, 2010.  Dee Holdsclaw read an opening prayer.

Officers present were President Mary Dally, Vice President Kathleen Stadelman, Treasurer Carol Roberts, and Secretary Kathy Phillips.

Members present were  Kelly Straley, Geri Procetto, Stephanie Arriola, Vivian Linahen, Joanne Johnson, Alice Stadelman, Sarah Stadelman, Elaine Caldwell, Lorraine Green, Dee Holdsclaw, and Kathy Cowan.

Secretary’s Report

The Minutes of the October 18, 2010, were read by Secretary Kathy Phillips.  Geri Procetto moved that the Minutes be accepted.  Carol Roberts seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

Kathy Phillips read two notes from the Pregnancy Resource Center thanking the Altar Society members for the baby gifts.

Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer Carol Roberts reported deposits of $124.86, checks written for $610.83 with a balance of $5,142.27.  Kathy Phillips moved that the Treasurer’s report be accepted.  Kelly Straley seconded the motion. The motion passed.


Committee Reports

Hospitality:  Dee Holdsclaw reported that get well and sympathy cards were sent to Elaine Caldwell and a sympathy card will be sent to Pat Richert.

Parish Life:  Elaine Caldwell reported there are already 55 applicants for the Tree of Giving without any notice out yet.  Boxes for donations will be going out soon.  Stephanie Arriola moved that the Altar Society give $400 worth of food certificates for the Trees of Giving.  Geri Procetto seconded the motion.  The motion passed.  Kathleen Stadelman moved that Treasurer Carol Roberts be authorized to buy an additional ten $20 food certificates if needed for the Trees of Giving.  Stephanie Arriola seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Wednesday Night Suppers:  Stephanie Arriola reported the Thanksgiving pot-luck is November 17th and the next Altar Society sponsored dinner is January 26, 2011.

Membership:  Kathy Cowan reported nothing new.

Old Business

Aprons:  Kathleen Stadelman reported that the aprons have been ordered.

Christmas Fund Raiser:  Carol Roberts reported that there will be two baskets and a quilt.  There will be three separate drawings.  It was decided that tickets will be $1 each or 6 for $5.

Mary Dally sent around a sign up sheet to sell raffle tickets for the Christmas fund raiser after Masses beginning November 27th.

Epiphany Party:  Kathy Cowan reported that those attending will be asked to bring an hors d’oeuvre and a dessert and a new gift item valued at a minimum of $7.  Also bring any Wise Men set to share.  The party will be on January 8th following the 5:00 pm Mass.

Thanksgiving Pot-Luck:  Stephanie Arriola reported that there has been a sign up sheet for those attending to help furnish food.   Members present filled in where there was still a need.

Kathleen Stadelman suggested that Altar Society again do a 50/50 drawing at the Thanksgiving pot-luck.  Kathleen and Kelly Straley will handle this.

New Business

Sponsoring Honduran Child:  Kathy Phillips moved that Altar Society again sponsor a Honduran child for $600.  Kathleen Stadelman seconded the motion. The motion passed

Meeting Day and Time:  After a brief discussion, it was decided to keep the Altar Society meetings on the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00 pm.

Funeral Dinners:  A luncheon for the Kilcoyne family will be held following the interment of Patty Kilcoyne Maxwell on November 23rd at 3:00 pm.  Stephanie Arriola will be in charge. A sign up sheet to bring salads and desserts was passed around.

Kathy Phillips reported that Fred Richert’s funeral will be Saturday, November 20th, at the High School gym.  Altar Society has been asked to furnish desserts for 100 people.  Five members present volunteered to bring desserts.  Jean Duval will be asked to call for five more desserts. 

Mary Dally reported that a numbered print has been given to the church.  It was suggested that we get a nice frame and keep it in the parish. The decision was tabled until the January meeting.

The next meeting will be January 17, 2011.  Dee Holdsclaw read a closing prayer.  Kelly Straley moved that the meeting be adjourned.  Kathleen Stadelman seconded the motion. The motion passed.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.

The meeting was called to order by President Geri Procetto at 7:15 pm on January 21, 2010. Mary Dally read a meditation by Sue Monk Kidd as an opening prayer.

Officers present were President Geri Procetto, Secretary Kathy Phillips, and Alternate Treasurer Mary Dally.

Members present were Elaine Caldwell, Kathy Cowan, and Allison Hundley.

Secretary’s Report;
The Minutes of the November 19, 2009, meeting were read by Secretary Kathy Phillips. Kathy Cowan moved the Minutes be approved. Allison Hundley seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report:
Alternate Treasurer Mary Dally reported deposits of $851.00 and checks written of $2,193.55 with a balance of $2,386.03. Kathy Phillips moved that the Treasurer’s Report be accepted. Allison Hundley seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Hospitality: There was no report.

Parish Life: Elaine Caldwell reported that there were 130 cards on the Tree of Giving this year. Elaine expressed sincere gratitude to the Altar Society for the gift certificates. A number of businesses also helped out. There were 275 children that received 3 toys each. Elaine reported that Bandon will be included in the program “Shopping with a Hero” next year. Elaine noted that there will be some questions that will need to be addressed before participating in the program.

Wednesday Night Dinners: Jim and Kathy Cowan will do the dinner on January 27th. The dinner on February 24th will be a potluck and leftovers that are in the freezer. The March 31st date is during Holy Week and there will be no dinner. The dinner for April 28th will be discussed at a later meeting.

Membership: Kathy Cowan will write out an announcement for Father Andrew to read at future weekend Masses concerning Altar Society membership and support.

Epiphany Party: Kathy Cowan reported that the Epiphany Party was very successful. There were about 10 Wise Men sets and plenty of food. It was decided to set a date for next year’s party at a later meeting.

Christmas Basket Raffle: It was noted that Altar Society made $497.00 on the basket raffle.

Singspiration: It was noted that the Singspiration in December was very nice. Allison noted that many of those attending appreciated the “Merry Christmas” buttons provided by the Spiritual Enrichment Committee.

Mixer: Mary Dally stated that she will donate a Kitchen Aid mixer to Altar Society. The donation was accepted gratefully. Allison will again put an article in the bulletin asking for a food processor.

Bunn Coffee Maker: Geri reported that a Bunn Coffee Maker costs between $300 and $400. There have been occasions when we have run out of coffee at big events. It was also noted that this will save coffee. Kathy Cowan moved that Geri Procetto be given the authority to purchase a two burner Bunn Coffee Maker up to the amount of $350.00. Kathy Phillips seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Food List for Future Funerals: Kathy Cowan suggested that Altar Society have a set menu for funeral meals. Kathy has a list of the menu for the last funeral meal and will keep notes for future meals. The set menu that Altar Society will provide will include ham, potato casserole, a hot vegetable, rolls, punch, coffee, and tea. Jean Duval will call for desserts and salads.

Coffee Hour: Mary Dally and Kathy Phillips will host the coffee hour on February 7th.

The next meeting will be February 18th at 7:15 pm. Kathy Cowan will be the prayer leader.

Mary Dally led the closing prayer. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm by President Geri Procetto.
