Treasurer Carol Roberts reported a bank balance of $4753.16, (complete report is attached). Carol stated that the breakdown of sales were only approximations because everything was sold together and all the money was put together. Stephanie moved that the financial report be approved, Allison seconded it and the motion passed unanimously.
Membership: Kathy Cowan was not present to report. Lori had no new memberships to report.
Hospitality: Dee reported that a get well card was sent to Bea De Costa who fell and hurt herself. Also a sympathy card to the Frasier family was sent.
Parish Life: Elaine reported that the Tree of Giving had 115-120 cards on it. 27 were not selected. The grocery cards we donated were used for these. Toys for Tots provided 1200 children with gifts. Some employees of Tiffany’s drug store donated their Christmas Turkey’s and these were given to the needy. The remaining turkeys will be donated to the EAT program. Stephanie reported that the Mardis Gras party is February 5th and being organized by Sharon Hennick and we are asked to let her know if we can help with desserts.
Wednesday Night Suppers: Stephanie Arriola stated that she would be serving “Left Overs” at the dinner on 1/30. The dinner on 2/27 will be the Penance service dinner so we will serve soup and bread. 19 March is the “St. Joseph” dinner and we will help Elaine with that.
Carpet: Nanci reported that the Parish Council will consider the carpet at their next meeting in March. They were happy to hear that we are willing to help pay for it. We hope to get it done during Spring Break in time for the 125th celebration.
Coffee Bags: Nanci reported that a few aprons were left and we are still selling them. Dee bought three as gifts for next Christmas. Nanci mentioned that placemats may be considered as a new project.
Cookie mixes and Christmas sales: These did not sell as well as we would have liked but, Stephanie said “we had a great time doing it”. It was reported that some of the recipes were not quite right, but when adjusted they turned out pretty good. Carol Roberts stated that she bought the Pine Cone decorations.
Call List: Stephanie stated it is working well; she used it to organize the funeral dinner that took place today.
Stations of the Cross: Altar Society has been asked to do Stations on Feb. 15th. Nanci passed around fliers with different reading programs. After looking them over it was decided to do the one titled “Way of the Cross”. Stephanie volunteered to lead the readings, Nanci volunteered to be “Reader 2”. Other members in attendance will help by holding candles.
Posting Minutes: Nanci stated that some members have asked if Altar Society minutes could be posted on the bulletin board in the Church and some even asked if they could be mailed. The idea of mailing them was disregarded due to cost. Lori reminded everyone that the minutes are posted on the Parish website. Nanci asked if it would be easier to just post a synopsis at the church. Lori stated that it would just be easier to print out another copy at home to post. This would not be a problem, but they would not be approved minutes.
Rummage Sale: Nanci brought up that dates for June are filling up and we also want to plan a “Going Away Party “for Fr. Heiko. Since there was some discussion about when he is actually leaving, it was decided to do the party on June 8th after Mass. Then, we could plan the Rummage Sale for the 13th and 14th. Nanci will get this scheduled on the Parish calendar right away.
Allison will get all our announcements put in the bulletin. The next bulletin is on the 27th.
The next meeting will be February 21st at 7pm. Since “Holy Week” will be the week of our March meeting we will meet on the 13th at 7pm. Dee volunteered to lead the prayers at the next meeting.
Stephanie closed with a prayer. Nanci adjourned the meeting at 8:10pm.
